Plea docket set in child abuse case

NEWKIRK — Kenneth Mark Hensley, 32, Ponca City, is set to appear for a plea docket in Kay County District Court on June 3. Hensley is charged with a felony count of sexual abuse to a child under 12.Ponca City police Lt. Kevin Jeffries reports in the affidavit that on Nov. 28, the Department of Human Services received a report of a subject who had called a co-worker and said he was molesting two children.

Following an investigation and a recorded interview with Hensley, in which he reportedly admitted to having sex with at least one of the children, the charge was filed.
He was arrested on Dec. 3 and is being held on $500,000 bond in the county jail.

On March 1 he waived his right to a preliminary hearing and a jury trial.
