NEWKIRK — Timothy Dale Compala, 42, Blackwell, appeared in Kay County District Court before Judge David Bandy and prosecutor Billie Chrz and entered no contest pleas to two amended charges of misdemeanor failure to report child abuse. He was originally charged with child neglect. The court accepted the plea and concurred with the recommendation of prosecutors and sentenced Compala to one-year suspended in the county jail. He is also ordered to complete 60 hours of community service.

NEWKIRK — Alejandro Flores Juarez, 33, appeared in Kay County District Court this week before Judge Thomas Griesedieck and assistant district attorney Billie Chrz and entered a guilty plea to child neglect. Sentencing is deferred for seven years and he is ordered to complete 80 hours of community service. He was represented by attorney Jack Shears.

NEWKIRK — Sandra Kay Barrows, 61, Wakita, waived her right to jury trial and is now set for a plea docket on Jan. 11 in Kay County District Court. Barrows is facing two felony counts of embezzlement by a public officer after the State Auditor’s office determined that over $60,000 was misappropriated from November of 2016 through April 17, 2019. NEWKIRK — A plea docket is set for Mykena Desiree Combs, 24, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court. Combs was charged in 2022 with felony charges of felony discharging a firearm into a dwelling and use of a vehicle in discharge of a weapon.

She reportedly told police she shot at a home in the 700 block of north Osage because someone who lived there gave a STD to someone she knows. Over 20 court dates have been scheduled in the matter. Combs also faces charges in a second shooting case filed in 2023 while she was free on bond in this case. (see story) She is free on $100,000 bond.

NEWKIRK — A jury trial is set for Xiuxiang Gao, 42, Brooklyn, New York, in Kay County District Court.

NEWKIRK — Thomas Conner McClung, 47, Ponca City, appeared in Kay County District Court before Judge David Wilke and prosecutor Shawna Taylor and entered guilty pleas to his charges. He is now sentenced to a 20-year deferred sentence and ordered to complete 52-weeks of domestic violence treatment.

NEWKIRK — Crystal Kay Hudson,  41, Blackwell, entered a guilty plea before Judge David Wilke and prosecutor Shawna Taylor in Kay County District Court. Sentencing is deferred for seven years and she is ordered to complete 100 hours of community service at a rate of eight hours a month and pay restitution. She was represented by defense attorney Tim Gungoll.

NEWKIRK — Michael Jeffery Thomas Hogue, 45 Ponca City, appeared before Judge David Bandy and prosecutor Rob Davis on Oct. 26 and entered no contest pleas to felony counts of aggravated trafficking in meth, conspiracy to aggravated trafficking in illegal drugs and a misdemeanor count of unalwful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was sentenced to 35 years in prison with all but the first 20 years suspended. Hogue was represented by attorney James Benitez.

NEWKIRK — A plea docket is scheduled for Carl Thomas Duff, 62, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court. The case was filed in 2020 and this is the 26th scheduled court date in the matter, 18 have been plea dockets.

NEWKIRK —  Dylan Michael Davis, 21, Ponca City, entered a no contest plea in Kay County District Court before Judge David Bandy and prosecutor Rob Davis to a felony count of assault and battery by force likely to produce death filed on Jan. 15, 2025.

Dylan Davis is now convicted of shooting a 15-year-old in the 2400 block of Kingston on Nov. 30, 2024. He is sentenced to 15-years in prison with all time suspended and complete 52 weeks of domestic violence treatment. Jarrod Stevenson was the defense attorney.
