Man sentenced on prescription fraud and animal cruelty charge

NEWKIRK — Daniel Michael Mehojah, 66, entered a no contest plea in Kay County District Court to three felony counts of obtaining a controlled dangerous substance by forgery and fraud filed by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics on Dec. 31, 2018 and a felony count of cruelty to animals filed on Sept. 19, 2018. Mehojah was sentenced to a 10 year suspended prison sentence and a five year suspended prison sentence.

Sentencing deferred for woman charged with impersonating another

NEWKIRK — Rilee Mae Brown, 18, Ponca City, entered a no contest plea in Kay County District Court to felony count of falsely personate another to create liability.

Sentencing was deferred for three years.

Brown was arrested by Ponca City police on May 16 in the 500 block of North Elm. (see story)

Brown must also complete 80 hours of community service at the rate of 10 hours a month.

Former postal worker sentenced

NEWKIRK — Ponca City resident Garrett Franklin Arnold, 57, entered a no contest plea in Kay County District Court to a felony charge of embezzlement filed by the United States Postal Service, Office of Inspector on Aug. 1.
