UPDATE: Bond set at $50,000 for Jason Rogers; Protective order information in Rogers case reveals allegations of assault and abuse

NEWKIRK — On Saturday, Judge David Wilke set bond at $50,000 for Jason Rogers.

NEWKIRK — The protective order petition filed by Amanda Rogers against Jason Rogers has been made available to the public. Amanda was reported missing July 22. (see story) She was later located and  her husband Jason was arrested on domestic abuse charges.

On July 24 the protective order petition was filed.

In court documents, Amanda accuses Jason of domestic assault and battery in the presence of a minor and threats of harm.

She describes the events of the week that led up to her disappearance. She states that her and Jason started arguing and that Jason punched her in the left upper arm two times causing soreness and tightness.

 “There are bruises on my arm that are approximately one inch, three inches, and one and half to two inches and are still really dark,” she writes.

She adds that he grabbed her left forearm, leaving three finger bruises. “I think it was Monday but I’m not sure of the day and time because all of my days have been running together,” she writes.

Amanda describes another incident in which she was trying to go inside the home when Jason allegedly pushed her with both hands in the upper body. She states that she went flying backwards to the ground in front of one of the children.

She states that she got up and went to the steps leading into the house and that Jason was allegedly on the steps attempting to block her entry into the home.

“I sat down on the steps and was holding the handrail while Jason kept trying to block me from entering the home,” she writes.

She claims that Jason went into the home first and that her and her son followed. The next incident that Amanda describes is believed to have occurred on July 21 at 3 p.m.

She stated that she entered the master bedroom during an argument and that Jason open hand slapped her once on the left side of her face.

“My left ear instantly started ringing,” she writes. “My face was burning and felt really hot. I was very dizzy and had to hold onto the bathroom cabinet to steady myself while standing. I couldn’t walk like he was wanting me to or move fast enough so he slapped me again on the same area.”

Amanda claims that he was still screaming at her to move but that she couldn’t. She claims that he pushed her down to the floor and grabbed her by the hair and closed fist punched her in the right temple area.

“I instantly had a knot form and Jason stopped after that,” she writes. 

She alleges that on July 22, Jason walked her to the truck and told her to, either kill herself or that he would take care of it himself.

She states that she is concerned for her kids’ safety since they spoke to authorities and that Jason has joked that she “Could go hang my own target for him.”

The petition stipulates that the defendant, (Jason) should immediately surrender all firearms and other dangerous weapons within his possession or control and any concealed carry license. A hearing on the matter is set for Aug. 3.

Jason remains in the county jail awaiting a bond hearing.

Husband of woman who went missing arrested on probable charges of domestic violence

NEWKIRK — Kay County Sheriff Steve Kelley said this evening that Jason Lee Rogers has been arrested and booked in the Kay County Detention Center after a follow up investigation into the disappearance and emergence of Amanda Ingram Rogers.

Rogers was reported missing Wednesday and then located Thursday morning. (see story)

Kelley said investigators developed a probable cause to arrested Jason and that he was taken into custody from his residence around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

He is booked in on probable charges of domestic assault and battery in presence of minors, attempting and or conspiring or endeavoring to perform an act of violence involving serious bodily harm or death. 

Bond is expected to be set over the weekend.
