UPDATE: Police arrest murder suspect and identify victim

PONCA CITY — Ponca City police report that Gavin Jareil Gates, 18, has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of 42-year-old Demetrius Miller. PCPD reports that Gates was arrested today after Osage County notified them that he was at a residence in McCord.

Ponca City police investigating shooting death on north Sunset

PONCA CITY — Today, just after 1:30 a.m. Ponca City police, ambulance and Kay County deputies responded to the 500 block of north Sunset for a report of a shooting.

Authorities report that officers arrived to find that a male had been shot.

He was transported to the hospital via ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

Police report that detectives and multiple officers have been processing the scene and are reviewing camera footage, evidence and suspect information.

No information on the victim or suspect has been released.
