UPDATE: Ponca City woman convicted of assaulting elderly woman

NEWKIRK — Murray appeared in court on Dec. 15 and entered guilty pleas to misdemeanor assault and battery, petit larceny and two felony domestic abuse charges. She was sentenced by Judge David Bandy to a four-year suspended prison sentence and ordered to complete 52 weeks of domestic abuse treatment. She was also give a five-year suspended sentence in a case filed in 2021 in which she is now convicted of assaulting a police officer.

Warrants issued for woman accused of assaulting three people

NEWKIRK — Warrants are issued for Alicia Rain Murray, 32, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court.

Murray is accused of assaulting an elderly woman in the 300 block of north Peachtree and then assaulting two people in the 1700 block of Clarke Street.

Ponca City police report that at 5:04 p.m. on June 25 an officer responded to the 300 block of north Peachtree for a report of an assault.

Upon arrival police made contact with an elderly woman who was suffering with an approximate five inch tear on her left arm. Officer William Hubler called for an ambulance. The woman allowed medical workers to treat the wound but refused to go to the hospital. The alleged victim told police that she hired Murray to clean the home. She told police that Murray “was doing a great job until she started drinking.”

The woman told police that Murray was intoxicated and started cooking stuff on the stove as if she lived there. The alleged victim asked Murray to leave but she refused.

“I kept telling her she needs to get out of my house but she got upset and pushed me down on my back that is how I got this cut on my arm,” the woman told police.

Murray reportedly took the woman’s phone and left.

Police searched the area. Another officer spotted a female matching Murray’s description at First and Albany but was unable to catch up with her.

At 6:17 p.m. police responded to the 1700 block of Clarke for a report of a woman attacking family members.  The alleged victims reportedly told police that Murray arrived sweaty and frantic, stating that the police were after her. 

She reportedly started yelling before getting into physical altercations with both residents. They told police they did not want to file charges.

On July 17 charges were filed in both incidents. 

Murray is charged with a misdemeanor count of assault and battery and petit larceny in the Peachtree case. Bond is endorsed at $2,500.

Two felony counts of domestic abuse, assault and battery, second and subsequent charges are filed in the second incident. Bond is endorsed at $15,000.

In 2021 Murray was charged with assault and battery upon a police officer and resisting arrest. She entered no contest pleas to the charges on June 6, 2022. Sentencing was deferred for three years. On Aug. 25, 2023 she failed to appear for a compliance docket and on Oct. 25, 2023 she failed to pay as ordered and bench warrants were issued in that case.
