UPDATE: PCPD releases name of shooting victim; Police request public assistance in the case

PONCA CITY — Ponca City police have identified the subject shot and killed this weekend on south Palm.

Police report that Francis Thomas Rhodd, 39 was killed and that two females were injured. Their names are not being released at this time. (See obituary below)

Officers were dispatched to the scene at 2:27 a.m. They arrived and began administering life saving measures and applied tourniquets to one of the victims in an effort to limit blood loss.  Each of the victims were transported from the scene via Ponca City ambulance. Rhodd was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police are actively investigating the incident and the safety of Ponca City citizens is the top priority. 

PCPD states that cooperation from the public is crucial in these types of investigations and they humbly ask for the public to step forward with any information that they may have about what occurred Sunday morning. 

“It’s imperative that we receive public cooperation to ensure justice is brought to the victims and their families. We ask that anyone with information about this incident contact the Ponca City Police Department’s Detective Division at 580.767.0370,” said a spokesman.

Three shot, one dead on south Palm; Ponca City police investigating

PONCA CITY — Ponca City police are investigating a triple shooting that took place in the 400 block of south Palm.

Police report that just after 2 a.m. officers responded to the area for a report of multiple shot. Upon arrival, officers found three people shot, one fatally, at 408 south Palm.

The other two victims were transported from the scene via ambulance. Police report that one was airlifted from Integris Ponca City and the other transport via ambulance to another hospital. Both are reporteldy in stable condition.

This is the same area in which two subjects were arrested last week after a report of shots fired. (see story)

Police report that it is an active investigation and that anyone with information is urged to call police.
