Blackwell Flycatchers open season 2-0

BLACKWELL — The Blackwell Flycatchers are undefeated after two victories over the Trinidad Triggers at Morgan Field.

The Flycatchers opened the season with a 13-3 victory over the Triggers on Monday and followed up with a 10-9 victory on Tuesday.

In Monday’s game, Braeden Levandowski picked up the win while Paul Mendoza suffered the loss.

The game stayed knotted at zero until the fifth inning when the Flycatchers broke through for three runs on three hits including a double by Eli Davis.

The Triggers got one of the runs back in the sixth inning, but the Flycatchers answered back with seven runs on three hits.

Trinidad managed their second run in the seventh inning and the Flycatchers were held to a 1-2-3 inning.

The Triggers kept their scoring trend alive with another run in the eighth and the Flycatchers answered with three runs.

Levandowsk and D.J. Martin combined to pitch a hitless ninth and the Flycatchers won the game.

On Tuesday, Kaden Kneip recorded the win.

Blackwell scored two runs in the first on a two run homer by Ramifer Salinas.

Both teams would plate runs in the second as Blackwell scored two and Trinidad scored three.

In the third, Trinidad scored one run with the help of three pass balls to tie the game at four.

The Flycatchers got the run back in the fourth but Trinidad would score a run as well to tie the game at five.

Blackwell kept the scoring going in the fifth as Jack Skantze scored on a passed ball.

However, Trinidad took the lead as they picked up two runs.

In the sixth Dominic Pisano came to life and crashed a three-run homer giving Blackwell a 9-6 lead.

In the seventh, Skantze advanced to first on a walk, but the next three batters would go down swinging to end the inning.

Trinidad’s Andrew Mason hit a home run off of Blackwell’s Reynaldo Lozano to give the Triggers another run.

Kaden Kneip came in to pitch the eighth and allowed the tying run.

Blackwell scored the winning run in the ninth after Dominic Pisano got on base via a walk and later scored on a Skantze single.

Each team had two errors.

The two teams play again tonight at Morgan Filed. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
