Kay County Emergency Management Director suspended

NEWKIRK — Kay County Emergency Management Director Daniel Hesson was suspended until further notice today following the county commissioner meeting.

Hesson was arrested by a Kay County deputy on a complaint of domestic abuse on May 21. Deputies report in court documents that Hesson is accused of hitting a female in the jaw. Hesson denies hitting the female.

Today, Hesson was walked out of the Annex Building by Sheriff Steve Kelley, and his belongings removed from the county truck. Hesson was seen getting into a deputy’s truck and was driven away.

Kay County Commissioner Shane Jones confirmed the suspension. Hesson is free on $1,500 bond and is scheduled for a court date on May 31.
