PONCA CITY — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that Ponca City resident David Wayne Taylor was killed and a 15-year-old injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred at 4:48 a.m. today at the intersection of Hubbard Road and Prentice Road, northeast of Ponca City.

Troopers report that Taylor, 48, was driving a 2005 Dodge Dakota west on Hubbard Road when he came upon a corrugated roadway. He reportedly lost control of the vehicle and went into a broad slide causing the vehicle to depart the road to the right, strike a ditch, then a tree. Both Taylor and the teen were ejected at least 15 feet.

Taylor was transported to Integris Ponca City, via ambulance where he was pronounced dead.

The juvenile female was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan., where she is listed in fair condition with head and arm injuries.

Troopers cite the cause of the accident as too fast for road conditions and report that seatbelts were not in use.
