Ponca City man sentenced to 35 years in prison on drug charges

NEWKIRK — Brian Keith Hammock, 50, Ponca City, entered no contest pleas in Kay County District Court to drug charges.

Hammock was arrested by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics on Nov. 13 at 800 north Birch following a search warrant. Officials report finding 1.44 pounds of meth and seized $5,863 in cash. (see story)

When asked if he was employed, Hammock reportedly stated, “No you guys know I sell drugs.”

He was booked in the county jail on $500,000 bond and later charged with felony counts of aggravated trafficking in illegal drugs, maintaining a place for keeping and selling CDS, possession of drug proceeds and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He entered the no contest plea to the charges on May 6 and was sentenced to 35 years in prison with all but 20 years suspended. He was also ordered to register as a meth offender upon release and assessed a $50,000 fine with $45,000 suspended.
