Shooting victim dies; Two juveniles in custody

PONCA CITY — Kay County Sheriff Steve Kelley said that two juveniles are detained as persons of interest in a homicide that occurred Saturday evening in the 300 block of north Pine. The sheriff said law enforcement received a tip and went to the 4400 block of south Waverly and took the pair into custody. Kelley said that both are currently detained on juvenile pick up orders.

PONCA CITY — Ponca City police responded to the 300 block of north Pine at 9:29 p.m. for a report of gunshots. 

According to scanner traffic, police made entry into the apartment and located a male who had suffered a gun shot to the torso. The male was transported to Integris Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Det. Capt. Kevin Jefferies said today that law enforcement is searching for a suspect.

Police, deputies and troopers converged on 712 north Oak at 2:30 p.m. searching for the suspect. The suspect was not located.

At this time police will not release a name or description of the suspect or the name of the victim.
