Warrant issued for Ponca City man accused of pouring power steering fluid on a woman

NEWKIRK — A warrant is issued for Derek Kane Jackson, 42, Ponca City, by the Kay County District Court.

Jackson was charged on Feb. 22 with a felony count of domestic assault and battery and or assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after two or more felony conviction and harassing and threatening communication.

Ponca City police report that at 2:24 a.m. on Jan. 23, officers responded to the 500 block of north Oak for a report of a male assaulting a female.

Officers arrived and were met by the alleged victim who was covered in power steering fluid.

The female reportedly told police that Jackson got mad, accused her of cheating on him and poured a soda on her before she went to work.

She told police that when she returned home from work, he threw a cooking pot at her and  dumped power steering fluid on her.

“He didn’t punch me this time,” she reportedly said. “But last week he hit me in the eye and destroyed my car and busted up my windshield.”

Police confirmed city warrants on Jackson but were unable to locate him.

At 4:21 a.m. Jackson reportedly sent a text message to the alleged victim stating that he was coming to beat her and make it worth going to jail. Police sheltered the female at the domestic violence shelter.

On Jan. 24, police made contact with Jackson via phone.

He reportedly admitted to pouring power steering fluid on the female but denied pouring it on her face. He reportedly admitted to using meth.

Jackson’s criminal history dates back to 2005 when he arrested on a drug charge that was later dismissed. In 2013 he was convicted of possession of meth and sentencing was deferred. In 2015 he was convicted of concealing stolen property and conspiracy. He was sentenced to serve two years of a five year sentence.

Other charges Jackson has been arrested on include DUI, breaking and entering, assault and battery, protective order violations and traffic charges.

Bond in the latest case is endorsed at $25,000. Anyone with information on Jackson’s location is asked to call police.
