Kay County treasurer mailing tax statements

November 21, 2023 | Featured|Headlines

NEWKIRK — The Kay County Treasure’s office is mailing the 2023 ad valorem tax statements.

Treasurer Rhonda Stephens said that at least half of the tax bill is due by Jan. 1  in order to avoid being delinquent.

The second half is due by April 1.

“The most important thing to remember when making a half payment is to retain the middle portion of the tax statement,” said Stephens.

“You will need that portion to make your second half payment. Taxpayers who mail their tax payment and wish to receive a receipt should include a self-addressed stamped envelope. Property owners whose monthly mortgage payment includes their property taxes will not receive a statement.  The statement goes to the company holding their mortgage when the mortgage company requests it.  All other taxpayers who do not receive a statement, and feel they should have, should contact the Kay County Treasurer’s office.”

An option to pay your taxes on-line at kaycounty.org is available at no additional charge when using eCheck.  If you pay by credit or debit card, an additional fee will be charged by the credit card processing company.  Instructions for paying in the office, by mail or on-line are included in each mailed envelope.

The treasurer’s office is located in the Kay County Administration Building, 219 south Main in Newkirk.

Office hours are Monday through Friday 8a.m. until 4:30 p.m.  The phone number for the treasurer’s office is 580-362-2523. Citizens can contact treasurer Stephens by email at rstephens@courthouse.kay.ok.us.
