PONCA CITY — Ponca City police responded to 721 north Oak just before 7 p.m. Sunday for a report of five gunshots.
Residents reported hearing a series of four shots followed by another shot.
Residents told police that a vehicle with a loud engine or muffler had pulled up in front of 720 north Oak facing southbound minutes before the shots were heard.
Several subjects were reportedly in the front yard of 721 and one subject reportedly put an arm around another.
Shortly afterwards the shots were fired. A female was heard yelling, “Get out of here.” The SUV type vehicle then left going southbound. Two subjects were then seen getting in a pickup and leaving 721, also heading south.
One neighbor reported seeing a subject on a bicycle in the area at about the same time the shots were fired. The neighbor also heard someone say, “Everyone is okay.”
Police searched the area but did not find any shell casings or bullets. Officers made contact with the elderly home owner of 721 who said he did hear something but did not see anything. Officers are familiar with the address, as they have responded to numerous calls at the home for many months, including stabbings, disturbances, thefts, and vandalism.
