Court date set for Broken Bow resident accused of stabbing another in Tonkawa

NEWKIRK — A court date is set for Christopher Shawn Gibson, 36, Broken Bow, who is facing a felony count of domestic assault and battery resulting in great bodily harm.

Tonkawa police report that on Sept. 16, officers responded to Wilkins Chrome Truck Shop, 16600 west Fountain Road, for a report of people fighting and possibly one person stabbed.

Police arrived and were told by workers that the victim was transported by a personal vehicle to a hospital and that the suspect had left.

Witnesses reportedly told police that Chris Gibson stabbed his father.

Another witness told police that he was asked to give Chris a ride to his vehicle so that he could leave. The witness told police that he was spitting blood and bleeding heavily. Police report that there was blood spatter all over the witness’ truck.

Police secured three crime scenes, one where the stabbing reportedly occurred; A golf cart reportedly used to transport the victim to a vehicle and the vehicle with the suspect’s blood and notified Blackwell police that the victim was reportedly at the hospital.

The victim reportedly told police that, “It was just a bad situation all round and it was just a family fight that never should have happened.”

The charge against Gibson was filed on Sept. 18 and the warrant issued. He made his initial court appearance on Sept. 21 and is free on $50,000 bond.
