Search underway for robbery suspects

PONCA CITY — Law enforcement is searching the surrounding area near Walmart for robbery suspects who reportedly attempted to rob a business inside Walmart.

Sheriff Steve Kelley said the perpetrators reportedly claimed they had weapons but did not show them.

The incident was reported at 10:10 a.m. Since then Ponca City police, deputies, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents, Oklahoma Highway Patrol, District Attorney Task Force members and countless others have been searching areas around Walmart, Atwoods, Napolis’ Evans and Associates and other entities searching for the suspects. Union School was also locked down for safety measures.

Law enforcement has been reviewing video footage from nearby businesses and drones have been launched searching the wooded areas.
