Tonkawa man injured in morning accident

TONKAWA — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that a Tonkawa man was injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred at 7:25 a.m. today at the intersection of south 13th Street and west Oakland Ave. in Tonkawa.

Troopers report that Stephen Earl Green, 66, was westbound on west Oakland Ave. in a 1991 Chevrolet Caprice, when he failed to yield at a stop sign. As a result he went 240 feet off the road into a ditch.

Troopers report that Green was transported via Tonkawa Ambulance to the hospital in Blackwell where he is admitted in fair condition with head injuries.

Troopers cite the cause of the accident as inattention and failure to yield to a traffic control device.
