Flycatchers snap losing streak in Santa Fe; Tonight Blackwell hosts Austin at Morgan Field

SANTA FE, N.M — The Blackwell Flycatchers snapped a six game losing streak this weekend with two wins over Santa Fe Fuego in Santa Fe.

Blackwell scored an 18-10 win in the first game led by rookies

Kurt Trotter, Cameron Phillips, and C.J. Mervilus who all homered.

Billy Nix went six innings, allowing nine earned runs, four walks and striking out five.

He recorded the victory.

Santa Fe’s Jordan Izzo suffered the loss.

Blackwell followed the victory up with an 18-12 victory the following evening.

Blackwell scored in every inning from the first through the sixth.

Mervilus, Jaylon Thornton, Jeff Fripp,  and Ty Andrews homered for Blackwell.

Ramon Medina went 4.2 innings, allowing 11 hits, seven earned runs, two walks and striking out seven to get the win.

Santa Fe’s Brian Cantu suffered the loss.

The Flycatchers are back home at Morgan Field tonight to take on the Austin Weirdos.
