NEWKIRK — The Kay County Treasurer’s office will conduct the annual Tax Resale at 9 a.m. on Monday, June 12  at the Kay County Administration Building, 219 S Main, Newkirk.

The Administration Building is located next to the Kay County Courthouse which is under construction. Do not enter the courthouse.

The current owners of the properties being sold are several years delinquent on tax payments.

There will be less space due to the change of location.  It will be the responsibility of those who choose to attend to take precautions for COVID-19 such as masks and distancing.

Properties will be sold to the highest bidder for cash only.  All property must be sold for the sum not less than two-thirds of the assessed value of such real estate or for the amount of tax, penalties, interest and cost due on such property, whichever is the lesser amount.

The property is transferred by Treasurer’s deed.  The real estate is being sold in “as is” condition without any warranty, either expressed or implied, as to the nature, condition or description of the property.  The treasurer’s office has done extensive research and notification of these properties and will provide information to perspective buyers.  Buyers, however, shall rely entirely on their own information, judgment and inspection of the property and records.

A list of the available properties may be obtained online at kaycounty.org or a list may be purchased at the Treasurer’s office.

The list will include addresses, or the approximate addresses, of vacant lots for these properties.

Those interested may contact the Treasurer’s office Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until noon and 12:30 to 4:30 pm. at 580-362-2523 or by email at ckennedy@courthouse.kay.ok.us or Rhonda Stephens by email at rstephens@courthouse.kay.ok.us
