Victim of suspicious death in Blackwell identified

BLACKWELL — Blackwell Police have identified a 42-year-old man found deceased at 4:20 p.m. at 218 east Kansas Ave. on March 8 as 42-year-old Eric Souder.

Police interim chief Cory Ingram said that upon arrival, officers observed that Souder had significant injuries that were not consistent with natural causes. 

Blackwell Police is working with The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death. The Kay County Sheriff’s Office and the 8th District Attorney’s Offices Major Crime Unit are assisting with the investigation.

“The investigation is ongoing, and the Blackwell Police Department is committed to thoroughly investigating this incident,” said Ingram.
