Candidate filing begins Feb. 6

NEWKIRK — Those interested in filing for office in Braman, Kaw City, Newkirk, Tonkawa municipalities and for Kay County Commissioner District No. 3 can file Declarations of Candidacy beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday Feb. 6. 

Carol Leaming, Secretary of the Kay County Election Board, said Declaration of Candidacy forms must be completed and submitted to the County Election Board no later than 5 p.m. Feb. 8.

Leaming reminds voters that Contest of Candidacy must be filed no later than Feb. 10 and may only be filed by another candidate for that office, unless a candidate files unopposed. 

Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted for the following offices: 

Braman                

Trustee Seat #1    

Trustee Seat #3    

Trustee Seat #4                                    

Kaw City              

Mayor 

Council Member Ward #2 

Council Member Ward #4 

Newkirk               

Commissioner #1                             

Tonkawa             

Council Member Ward #3 

Council Member Ward #4 

Council Member At Large 

Kay County Commissioner District No. 3

Declaration of Candidacy forms can be downloaded from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections or by contacting your County Election Board Office at 580 362 2130 or kaycounty@elections.ok.gov. 

The Kay County Election Board is located at 219 South Main Street in Newkirk and is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. 

 Election date is April 4 with a runoff Election date if needed on June 13.
