Special County Commissioner Election scheduled

NEWKIRK — A special election to fill Kay County Commission seat No. 3 is set for April 4.

The vacancy occurred of Commissioner Elect Joe Allbaugh said he was unable to take office because of health issues.

Allbaugh defeated commissioner John Wilson for the seat. Wilson is currently acting as first deputy and attends meetings but can not vote on county business.

Those interested in becoming a candidate for the office may obtain an official filing packet at the Kay County Election Board or download a packet from the State Election Board website at oklahoma.gov/elections. The filing period begins Monday, Feb. 6, at 8 a.m. and ends Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. 

The Special Primary Election will be held April 4. The Special General Election will be held June 13.
