Ponca City man faces assault charge

NEWKIRK — A status docket is set for Matthew Damon Sheeder, 52, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court.

Sheeder was arrested by Ponca City police on Sept. 13 and later charged with aggravated assault and battery after a two or more felony convictions.

Police report in the affidavit that police responded to the  1800 block of north Woodland after a resident reported that her son assaulted her.

Sheeder reportedly punched the woman in the face at least five times. The female and her daughter fled the home and went to another location and called police.

When police arrested Sheeder he denied the allegations and refused to talk to officers with out a lawyer.

He was booked in the county jail on $25,000 bond.

On Oct. 3, bond was lowered to $15,000 and he was released.

On Oct. 5 bond was revoked and bond raised back to $25,000.

He was jailed on Oct. 6.
