Ponca City man held on drug trafficking charges

NEWKIRK — A status docket is set for David Michael James, 39, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court.

James is facing felony counts of trafficking in cocaine and unlawful possession of a DS with intent to distribute and a misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ponca City police report that James was arrested on Oct. 13 in the 100 block of west Albany after an officer saw him walking in the roadway.

Authorities report that James admitted to being in possession of marijuana and stated that he is a dealer.

Police report that officers searched James and found $103.21 in cash, 36 grams of marijuana, seven grams of meth, 46.5 grams of cocaine, and two scales.

James reportedly told police that he is dealing for some “big shots in prison” and that they text him and tell him where to pickup the drugs and where to sell it.

He is being held in the county jail on $150,000 bond.
