NEWKIRK — A California man arrested in Blackwell is facing felony charges of sexual battery and kidnapping.

Kiryl Igorevich Mikhalkevich, 38, Del Mar, Cailf. was arrested at the Sure Stay Hotel on Oct. 26 after Blackwell police responded to a report of an assault.

Officers report that a front desk clerk told officers that Mikhalkevich came to her and said his television was not working.

The female employee told police she went to Mikhalkevich’s room to look at the television.

She reportedly told police that once in the room, Mikhalkevich grabbed her, kissed her, and pushed her onto the bed.

The employee said she was able to get away and fled the room.

She told police that Mikhalkevich did not chase after her and she called her boss and then police.

After an investigation, police made contact with Mikhalkevich and placed him under arrest.

He refused to speak to police and requested an attorney.

He was later booked in the county jail on $75,000 bond.

On Oct. 31, he bonded out on the condition that he forfeit his passport and keep an attorney retained.

His next court date is set for Jan. 6.
