Blackwell woman in critical condition following Monday morning accident
September 13, 2022 | HeadlinesBLACKWELL — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that a Blackwell woman is in critical condition following a one-vehicle accident that occurred at 4:28 a.m. Monday on west Hubbard Road at the intersection of south P Street, three miles south and one mile east of Blackwell.
Troopers report that Kennedy Simpson, 21, Blackwell, was the passenger in a 2010 Nissan Rogue driven by Shawn Dewell, 24, Blackwell.
Troopers report that what happened is under investigation but that Simpson was airlifted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where she was admitted in critical condition with head, trunk internal and external injuries and arm and leg injuries.

At 4:20 a.m. The Kay County Sheriff’s Department received a report of the accident. The caller reported that a female was pinned under the vehicle. At 4:43 a.m. the vehicle was removed off of the female.
Dewell was reportedly transported by Blackwell ambulance to the hospital in Blackwell where he was treated and released. Troopers report that Dewell was driving under the influence of drugs and that the cause of the accident is intoxication. He was arrested and booked into the Kay County Detention Center.
