Warrant issued for South Carolina man accused of indecent proposals to a child under 16

UPDATE: Peetoom has been arrested and booked in the county jail

NEWKIRK — A warrant is issued by the Kay County District Court for the arrest of Benjamin Mark Peetoom, 29, Summerville, South Carolina.

Peetoom is facing charges of lewd, indecent proposals, acts to a child under 16 and enticing a child under 16 into a secluded place.

Deputy Earl Watkins reports in the affidavit that on June 8 he responded to a report of a 14-year-old female receiving in appropriate text messages.

The juvenile’s mom told the deputy that Peetoom had her daughter’s number and was texting lewd messages and asking the teen to sneak out and meet him

At the time of the incident Peettoom was reported to be a friend of the family and was staying at Aspen Hollows RV Park near Kaw Lake.

Watkins reports that he conducted a background check on Peetoom and learned that he had been charged in Hays, Kansas with forcible rape. However the charge was later dropped. The charges in Kay County were filed on Aug. 23 and bond is endorsed at $100,000.

Peetom reportedly may reside in Charleston, South Carolina
