PONCA CITY — ALL FIRED UP!, a fundraiser hosted by The Fire and Life Safety Council, took place Saturday evening at Osage Casino.

ALL FIRED UP! is a steak grilling competition pitting teams of firefighters against one another to determine who grills the best steak.

This year The Phillips 66 Emergency Response firefighters won the competition defeating two Ponca City Fire Department teams.

Donations raised at the event support FLSC projects such as free car seat safety checks and fire prevention programs for kids and training tools for emergency responders.  Past events have raised in addition to $75,000 toward Pioneer Tech’s Emergency Services training tower. Other items purchased with donations in the past include $7,500 worth of training tools for Pioneer Tech,  LUCAS chest compression tool for a Ponca City Fire Department ambulance totaling $15,000 and a $12,000 simulated rescue manikin.

Kildare Fire Chief Travis Harris said this year’s fundraiser raised a significant amount but that the grand total is not known yet.

The Fire and Life Safety Council is a 501-c3 organization whose mission is to promote fire prevention and life safety through education, training, and events to improve the quality of life for all citizens in Kay County.
