NEWKIRK — A warrant is issued with bond endorsed at $10,000 for Michael Angelo Edwards, 41, Ponca City, by the Kay County District Court.

Edwards is facing a felony charge of leaving the scene of an injury accident after two felony convictions, filed on June 29.

Ponca City police report that on June 12 officers responded to the area of Ash and Rivera for a report of a single vehicle roll over accident.

Officers arrived and reportedly found that a Chevrolet Equinox had gone through a fence and into a shed in the backyard of 901 Riviera Drive.

Police report that a female was unresponsive and pinned in the vehicle and that a strong odor of alcohol was present.

A witness told police she heard a crash, and then saw the wrecked vehicle.  The witness said she saw a dark skinned male with long dreads exit the driver seat.  He reportedly sat on the ground and stated, “I’m going to jail.” He then reportedly got up and started limping eastbound in  the drainage ditch.

Police report the passenger, Tianna Youngbear, was extracted from the vehicle by Ponca City firefighters. She was transported via ambulance to the hospital with lacerations, a bruised chin, bloody nose, and a broken femur. An officer reportedly rode with her in the ambulance and asked her who was driving. She reportedly stated that that she didn’t know.

Police searched the vehicle and reportedly located a Garaga employee identification card for Michael Edwards. Police checked a residence in the 500 block of N. 10th Street but did not locate Edwards. On June 12, one of the witnesses reportedly called police and stated that after looking at Facebook she is able to identify Edwards as the man who limped away from the scene.

Edwards is described as a 5’9 Asian male with black hair and brown eyes, weight 141 pounds. Last known address is in the 500 block of N. 10th Street.
