NEWKIRK — The architectural plans for the new Newkirk Public Safety Center have been revealed.

The new 15,500 square foot facility will be located in the 100 block of south Maple, across the street from the current fire station and will house both the fire and police departments.

Kerr 3 Architects have been selected to do the project.

The new facility will include office space, vehicle bays, conference room, kitchen, restrooms, showers, dispatch, fitness area and more.

The new facility is being made possible by a donation the city received from the Doug and Sandra Cline Trust. (see story)

The City of Newkirk has been striving for a new fire department since 2014. That year a sales tax for a new facility was defeated.

The Newkirk Fire Department posted the drawing and a note of gratitude on their Facebook page this week.
