NEWKIRK — A Ponca City teen is charged as an adult with felony counts of first degree rape by force or fear and lewd or indecent acts to a child under the age of 16.

Ponca City police report that Keaghan Drey Chance, 18, is accused of raping and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old. Chance was 17 when the charges were filed but turned 18 on April 29 and was booked in the Kay County Detention Center that day after being held in a juvenile detention center.

On March 31, police responded to a report of a sexual assault.

The alleged victim reportedly told officers that Chance moved into the family home last summer and later that year came into her room one night, held her down, and forcibly raped her.

Officers asked the teen why she waited so long to say anything and she reportedly said that a police presentation at school made her feel brave enough to come forward.

As officers were responding to the location for the report, Chance reportedly left the area carrying a firearm.

However, he returned claiming he took a bottle of ibuprofen in an attempt to kill himself.

He was transported to the hospital and medically evaluated.

While there he reportedly told a doctor that he was a terrible person and that he didn’t injure anyone other than emotionally. He also reportedly told a nurse that he did not rape the teen.

Judge David Wilkie set bond at $100,000 with the stipulation he have no contact with the alleged victim if released on bond.
