One in serious condition following ATV accident near Sarge Creek

SARGE CREEK — Newkirk fire chief Adam Longcrier said the driver of an ATV is in serious condition following an accident at the ATV trails near Sarge Creek today.

Longcrier said Newkirk EMS and Kaw City first responders were dispatched to the location at 4:15 p.m.

“Kaw City first responders helped us extricate the patient from the trails,” said Longcrier. “We believe the 30-year-old male drove the ATV off of a small cliff. We were able to bring the patient up from the scene to an ambulance and then transport him to the campgrounds near the boat ramp.”

Longcrier said the patient was airlifted from that area to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa with a severe leg injury and other minor injures.

In addition to Newkirk and Kaw City, Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers and Kay County deputies responded.

The identity of the patient has not been released yet.
