Suspect arrested in Stillwater following pursuit has a criminal history in Kay County
January 26, 2022 | Courts|PoliceSTILLWATER — The suspect arrested in Wednesday’s police chase in Stillwater has a criminal history in Kay County.
Carlos Javier Lopez, 31, was arrested following a police pursuit through downtown Stillwater.
Lopez was reportedly driving a vehicle belonging to GelinoCCC, a company owned by former Ponca City resident Matthew Gelino.
Officials report that 11 vehicles were involved in collisions and one officer injured during the pursuit.
Lopez’s criminal record in Kay County dates back to 2011 when he was charged with DUI.
Lopez’s offenses in Kay County include possession of a firearm after a felony conviction filed in 2015.
Felony counts of domestic assault and battery filed in 2018 were later dismissed because of an uncooperative witness.
In 2019 he was charged with concealing stolen property and possession of meth.
He was convicted in that case on April 18, 2019 and was sentenced to one-year in the Kay County jail with six months suspended.
On June 17, 2020 he was charged with bail jumping and later released on an own recognizance bond.
On Aug. 2, 2021 the court was notified that Lopez was in treatment and his failure to appear warrants were recalled.
