Hearing set in child molestation case

NEWKIRK — A preliminary hearing is set for Cody Lee Taylor, 41, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court.

Taylor is facing two felony charges of lewd or indecent acts to a child under 16.

The first case was filed on Nov. 15 with bond endorsed at $100,000.

The second case was filed on Nov. 30 with bond endorsed at $100,000.

On Dec. 3 the court lowered bond to $50,000 in each case.

Authorities report that on Nov. 16, the Kay County Sheriff’s Department was notified by Ponca City police that a female wanted to file a report a nine-year-old child allegedly molested by Taylor.

The child was interviewed by a Department of Human Services worker.

Taylor is being held in the county jail.
