Ponca City man sentenced in shooting case

PAWHUSKA — One of two Kay County residents facing shooting with intent to kill charges in Osage County was sentenced to prison this week.

Corey Dewayne Grant, 27, Ponca City, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and entered a guilty plea to an amended charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Grant and Mary Alice Lieb, 47, Tonkawa, were charged on Aug. 2 and accused of shooting Triston Pappan at the Double N Motel on July 14, 2021. (see story)

Grant was sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but seven years suspended.He requested immediate transport to the Department of Corrections. The case against Lieb was dismissed.
