Second case filed against shooting suspect

NEWKIRK — A second case has been filed against a Ponca City man accused of shooting at a semi on Jan. 14.

Stephen Lee Hogan, 39, Ponca City, is charged in Kay County District Court with a felony count of shooting with intent to injure.

Ponca City police report that on Jan. 13 on 7 p.m. a taxi driver approached an officer at the Taco Stop parking lot and told police about a subject in a in a pickup who had fired a weapon at him. The officer took a brief statement from the taxi driver on the incident.

Five hours later at 12:12 a.m. PCPD was notified that Kay County deputies were in pursuit with an active shooter heading into the city limits of Ponca City. (see story)

The pursuit came to an end six minutes later and Hogan was arrested.

Police made contact with the taxi driver a second time about the shooting incident, which reportedly occurred in the 1500 block of Summit Ave. The vehicle and the description of the subject matched those of Hogan.

Police searched the area for a shell casing but did not locate one.

Hogan is being held in the county jail on $150,000 bond.
