Warrant issued in child abuse case

NEWKIRK — A warrant is issued for Mark Alan McNamara, 63, Blackwell, by the Kay County District Court.

McNamara has two current pending cases.

On Sept. 28, he was charged with three misdemeanor charges of threaten to perform act of violence, a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication and a misdemeanor charge of injury to property under $1,000.

In that case he was arrested and released on bond, only to fail to appear for a court date on Oct. 1. He was then jailed on Oct. 12 and later released on $3,000 bond. He is scheduled for a court docket on Jan.19.

On Nov. 2, McNamara was charged with a felony count of child abuse by injury.

Blackwell police report that on Aug. 30 officers responded to a report of physical altercation involving a juvenile. Police report that McNamara is accused of punching a juvenile in the mouth.

McNamara reportedly told police that juveniles took his gas can. He reportedly admitted to the officer that he punched the teen. The officer reports the teen’s gum was bleeding. A warrant with bond endorsed at $10,000 is issued.
