Wildcats host Choctaw tonight at Sullins Stadium

PONCA CITY — The Ponca City Wildcats will host the Choctaw Yellowjackets at 7 p.m. tonight in a home conference game at Sullins Stadium.

The Wildcats are 1-3 on the season after suffering their third loss last week to the Sand Springs Sandites.

The Cats were holding on to a 13-10 lead late in the third quarter, when the Sandites’ defense came to life. 

Sand Springs’ linebacker Drake Fain, grabbed a loose ball in Wildcat territory and took it to the end zone for a 20-yard-touchdown. The play fueled Sand Spring’s comeback as they went on to defeat the Wildcats 30-13.

The Cat’s kicked off the season with a 6-0 loss to Enid. The next week they shut out Tulsa McLain on the road, 37-0, but returned home to lose to Ardmore 28-18.

Choctaw is 3-1 coming into the game. 

The Yellowjackets defeated Beacon Hill by a score of 66-0 in week one, beat Springdale, Ark. 63-6 in week two, lost to Dallas Jesuit 36-29in week three and defeated Booker T. Washington last Friday by a sore of 29-20.

Tonight is also Spirit Night for Lincoln Elementary students. 

Lincoln students attending will receive a free Wildcat “Hold That Line” T-shirt. Students must be accompanied by an adult.
