Court date set for Tonkawa man accused of kicking in door of Ponca City home while naked

NEWKIRK — A status docket is set for Tanner Sterling Epperson, 31, Tonkawa, in Kay County District Court.

Epperson is facing a felony charge of indecent exposure and a misdemeanor charge of breaking and entering a dwelling with out permission.

Ponca City police report that on July 24, officers responded to the 1400 block of south 9th Street in reference to door to a home being kicked open by a nude male.

The resident told police her family was awaken by a loud bang. When she looked towards the door, it was kicked in and a naked man, later identified as Epperson, was inside the living room.

The woman told police she started yelling for her husband to wake up and that Epperson then ran out puling the door shut behind him.

Approximately 30 minutes later, the Kay County Sheriff’s Department received a report a of a naked male in the roadway in the area of Highway 60 and the Marland exit, about four miles from the home on 9th Street.

Deputy Elliot Lindsey responded located Epperson. He reports Epperson  was mostly nude but had some clothes wrapped around him.

Epperson reportedly told the Lindsey some friends dumped him out of a vehicle on a county road and that he was trying to get back home to Tonkawa. Epperson was evaluated and an emergency order of detention was issued.

Epperson is been held in the county jail on $25,000 bond.
