Court date set in assault case

UPDATE: Case dismissed

NEWKIRK — On Oct. 29, 2021, the case was dismissed because officials could not locate the alleged victim.

NEWKIRK — An attorney status review is scheduled in Kay County District Court for Tonner Gene Warrior, 40, Tonkawa.

Warrior is facing felony charges of child neglect, domestic assault and battery, possession of a firearm after a conviction, and a misdemeanor charge of domestic abuse.

Ponca City police report that officers responded to the 900 block of N. Pine on June 16 for a report of a female who was assaulted.

The alleged victim reportedly told police that she arrived home to find Warrior and the pair argued. 

She reportedly grabbed a bat and intended to break the windshield of the vehicle that he came to the residence in.

Warrior reportedly grabbed the bat from her and threatened to hit her.

The female reportedly told him that she wasn’t scared.

Warrior reportedly threw the bat down and pulled a gun  and held it as the pair continued to argue.

The female told police he then hit her in the head two times with his hands and once with the gun. Officers photographed her injuries.

Warrior is free on $50,000 bond.
