OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers report that a Stillwater resident was injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 1:55 a.m. today on northbound Interstate 44, south of Northwest 23rd in Oklahoma City.
Troopers report that a 2010 Chrysler Town and Country Van driven by Devon Whitmire, 21, Stillwater, and a 2016 Ford Focus driven by Ronald Claiborne, 52, Edmond, were northbound on I-44 when Whitmire’s vehicle struck Claiborne’s vehicle in the rear forcing Claiborne to depart the roadway to the right and strike a fence.
Whitmire’s vehicle departed the roadway to the right rolling an unknown amount of times coming to rest on its wheels. Whitmire was ejected a short distance.
He was transported by EMSA to OU Medical Center and is listed in critical condition with full bodily injuries.
Claiborne was transported by private vehicle to Baptist Hospital and was treated and released.
Troopers report the cause of the vehicle is under investigation.
