Winfield resident charged with rape in Kay County

NEWKIRK — A warrant with bond endorsed at $50,000 is issued for Andrew Patrick Johnson, 32, Winfield, Kan.

Johnson is facing a felony count of second degree rape that was filed on June 29.

Blackwell police report that Johnson is accused of impregnating a 15-year-old.

Police report the teen told officers that she was contacted via Facebook by Johnson in March and that the pair began exchanging messages and then met for the first time in April at an abandoned school in Blackwell. She reportedly admitted to police they began a physical relationship that lasted until the middle of May. The teen reportedly told police that the activity was consensual and that he would give her marijuana and cigarettes.

Police conducted a data dump on the teen’s phone and report locating 62 messages and seven phone calls between the pair. Police obtained records from the health department showing that the teen was pregnant.

Johnson’s criminal background in Kay County includes a misdemeanor domestic abuse charge filed on April 28, 2020. A jury trial is scheduled in that case on Oct. 5. Anyone with information on Johnson’s location is asked to contact law enforcement.
