NEWKIRK — Two Ponca City residents were injured today in a two-vehicle accident in downtown Newkirk.

Newkirk Fire chief Adam Longcrier said crews responded to the scene at 6:10 a.m. at 5th and Main and found a head on collision between a Ford Explorer and Range Rover.

“There was one occupant in each vehicle,” said Longcrier. “One patient complained of chest, back and neck pain and the other was complaining of neck, back, hip and leg, and abdominal pain.” Longcrier said crews wanted to airlift one of the patients from the scene but the weather prevented the chopper from flying. “Both females were in serious condition and transported to Alliance Health in Ponca City,” said Longcrier. Names have not been released.
