Plea docket set in domestic caseMarch 30, 2021 | Courts
NEWKIRK — A plea docket is scheduled with a jury trial set if needed for Brad Lee Pruett, 51, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court.
Pruett was arrested by Ponca City police officer Cody Womack at 715 Monument on Aug. 20, 2020, and later charged with felony counts of kidnapping, domestic assault and battery by strangulation and misdemeanor charges of domestic abuse and threaten to perform an act of violence.
Police report Pruett is accused of slapping a female in the face and then barricading her in a bedroom. The female attempted to leave the room through a window but Pruett reportedly grabbed her and pulled her back into the room and kept her there for four hours. The female told police he held her against a wall, choked her and threatened to kill her.
He reportedly let the female leave the apartment at 10 p.m. She told police she went back at 3:30 a.m. to gather her things so that she could leave with friends.
Pruett reportedly punched her two times in the face. The female was able to grab a phone and call police. Pruett was arrested and transported to the station. He reportedly told police that he did barricade her in the bedroom but for only 15 minutes. He said he doesn’t remember choking her and claims she was hitting him so he pushed her up against the wall for a couple of seconds. Pruett is being held in the county jail on $25,000 bond.
