Court date set in child abuse case

NEWKIRK — A status docket is set for Lindsey Nichole Meyer, 38, Ponca City, in Kay County District Court.

Meyer is facing a felony charge of child abuse. Ponca City police report that an officer responded to a disturbance on Feb. 14 involving a teen and a female.

Upon arrival the teen told police that Meyer had consumed four glasses of wine, got mad and punched him in an eye. An officer made contact with Meyer. She reportedly told police that the teen pushed her and that she responded but didn’t know what happened. Police report Meyer smelled of alcohol and that she appeared to be intoxicated. The officer arrested her on a complaint of child abuse. She is free on $2,000 bond.
