Deferred sentence issued in child endangerment case

NEWKIRK — Olivia R. Spencer, 25, Ponca City, entered a no contest plea to an alternative count of child endangerment, permitting abuse in Kay County District Court.

Spencer was charged with the offense after police reported she gave birth to a child who tested positive for marijuana.

PCPD Lt. Jeff Woodward, who is now Det. Woodward, reported in the affidavit that Spencer reportedly admitted to smoking marijuana during the pregnancy.

Sentencing is deferred for five years and she was ordered to complete 80 hours of community service.
