Kansas man killed in accident near Perry

PERRY — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports that one person was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 7:34 a.m. today on Interstate 35 in the southbound lanes at mile marker 196, nine miles north of Perry in Noble County.

Troopers report that James Joseph Greer, 38, Kansas City, Mo., had legally parked his 2016 Freightliner on the southbound shoulder of I-35 and that Suresh Shrestha, 23, Junction City, Kan., was traveling southbound in a 2020 Toyota Corolla, when he departed the roadway to the right and hit the rear of the semi.

Troopers report Shrestha was transported via ambulance to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid in critical condition where he was pronounced dead from head and trunk internal injuries.

Greer was not injured.

Troopers report the cause of the accident is sleepy driver.

The accident was investigated by  Trooper Josh Kelle No. 493 of the Noble/Kay County Detachment of Troop K.  Assisted by Lt. Gabe Leach No. 167 of Troop K, Tonkawa Fire Department, Noble County Sheriff’s Office.
