Ponca City COVID-19 case count climbs to 194

OKLAHOMA CITY —  The Oklahoma State Department of Health reports 41,401 COVID-19 cases across the state, an increase of 837 from Wednesday.

The death toll across the state increased from 583 to 593. The death toll includes 11 from Kay County as it was reported yesterday that a Blackwell resident, a male age 65 or older succumb to COVID-19.

There have been eight deaths in Ponca City, one in Newkirk, one in Kaw City and one in Blackwell.

Noble County has reported two deaths, a Billings resident identified as a male in the 65 or older age group and a Red Rock resident identified as a female in the 65 or older age category. Osage County has 11 reported deaths.

The 10 additional deaths identified to report are: 

  • One in Canadian County, one female in the 65 or older age group. 

  • One in Cleveland County, one female in the 65 or older age group.
  • One in Garfield County, one male in the 65 or older age group. 
  • One in Marshall County, one male in the 65 or older age group.  
  • One in Oklahoma County, one female in the 50 – 64 age group.
  • One in Ottawa County, one male in the 50 – 64 age group.
  • One in Pottawatomi County, one female in the 50 – 64 age group.
  • Two in Tulsa County, one female and one male in the 65 or older age group. 
  • One in Wagoner County, one male in the 65 or older age group. 

The Kay County case total is 233 as two new cases are reported in Ponca City. The total case count includes 16 cases in Blackwell; Nine cases in Kaw City; Nine cases in Newkirk; 194 cases in Ponca City, and 10 cases in Tonkawa. Some of the Ponca City cases have been reported on the Osage County side and in rural Kay County.

OSDH reports 186 of those infected in Kay County are considered recovered, 36 of the cases are current. Kay County ranks 32nd in the state in the number of cases reported.

Noble County’s case count is 83 as Red Rock’s case count is 26 and Perry’s climbs to 33. Billings count climbs to three and Marland is now at two.

Osage County’s reported case count has increased to 391 which includes six cases in Burbank, two cases in Shidler, and 24 cases in Fairfax.

OSDH reports 12 cases in Grant County which includes five cases in Pond Creek; Four cases in  Medford, and two reported cases in  Lamont.

In Cowley County 160 cases have been reported and two deaths.
