Bond lowered to $2 million in murder case

NEWKIRK — A bond hearing was held today in Kay County District Court for accused murderer Jerry Louis Harris, 66, of Ponca City.

Harris is accused of strangling his wife, Linda Kathleen Jones Harris, 55, to death on July 17. (see story)

He was charged with first degree murder and bond set at $5 million.

On July 23, attorney Jack Shears entered his appearance for Harris and requested a bond hearing. Today Judge David Wilkie lowered bond to $2 million. Harris remains in the county jail at this time.
