Voter turnout steady; Polls open until 7 p.m.

PONCA CITY — Voting is steady at Precinct 419 located at Community Christian Church, 2109 west Grand Ave. Precinct workers Charlotte Parrish, Johnny Caudle and Carolyn Wright said 60 ballots were cast by 9 a.m.

Items on the ballots include state races, question 802 and  the Kay County Court Clerk race between incumbent Marilee Thornton (see ad) and challenger Natalie Scavezze. (see ad) For a list of ballot items click here.

The Kay County Election Board reports there are 23,933 registered voters and 20,894 are active.

Election Board assistant secretary Carol Leaming said 299 voters took advantage of early voting last week and that the 707 absentee ballots were mailed out.

“We have received 460 of the absentee ballots,” she said. “Voters have until 5 p.m. today to get those back to us.”
